realme Buds Air 2 review: #NoiseOffrealmeOn

realme Buds Air 2 is among the lowest priced true wireless earphones with active noise cancellation that you can buy in the Philippines.

Unboxing:

  • Pair of earbuds along with the charging case
  • a USB Type-C fast charging cable
  • a user manual
  • earcups in three different sizes.

The realme Buds Air 2’s designed as cobble-shape and has a smooth glossy texture with a LED light and charging port. The lid feels durable and can be flipped open using just one hand. It’s available in unique two-tone color splicing design: Black and blue, silver and white. The charging case has a LED light that indicates the battery status and has the realme branding at the bottom. The pairing botton is located at the right side of the device.

The earbuds itself is pretty lightweight and has the same glossy-matte texture on the head to prevent smudges and eventually falling-off. It has an oval-shaped design and has a fairly long stem. The box also comes with three silicon sizes that can help you find your perfect fit. There are also touch sensors that helps for controlling the music, answering phone calls and switch between modes. It also comes with an IPX5 rating which means its water-resistant so you can use it while you sweat during your workout sessions.

Battery Life and Performance

realme Buds Air 2 is a high-end TWS with Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode.  The ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) will cancel any background or ambient noise (up to 25 dB) from the outside so that you can hear a clear and audible sound while the Transparency mode allows you to amplify the ambiance and surroundings. Meaning, you don’t need to take off the earbuds in case you want to talk to your friend.

The ultra-low-power realme R2 chip and large battery capacity also provide users with a massive 25 hours of total battery life. The earbuds will last for 5 hours on a single charge. That’s two hours longer than the previous generation — an increase of 66.7 percent. The realme Buds Air 2 also supports fast charging. With just 10 minutes of charging time, users get 120 minutes of playback.

The Buds Air 2 can be customized and monitored using the Realme Link App. The app lets you customize touch gestures for each bud, monitor battery, switch between sound presets, and manage ANC.

Audio is transmitted over Bluetooth 5.2, and the connectivity is excellent within the Bluetooth range. Pairing is so easy, you can do it via the realme Link app or direct bluetooth. All you need to do is open the device, press the button on the right side of the charging case and search the bluetooth device. Just like my realme Buds Air Pro, I didn’t experience any problems connecting this via link me app, apple device or even with my laptop.

The realme Link app will offer you a better user interface showing you the battery life of both the buds and the case, as well as a bunch of features, customization, and firmware updates. It can let you choose the modes, Bass Boost, as well as control the gesture shortcuts for the touch controls.

New Bass Boost+ Mode (realme Music Studio x Chainsmokers)

realme has teamed up with American electronic music duo the Chainsmokers to launch a new Bass Boost+ bass enhancement solution. Compared with the previous generation solution, it fully leverages the power of the large dynamic coil and DLC diaphragm, bringing you bass that sounds like it’s live. Filipino users will be able to turn up the bass for live recordings, electronic music, rock, and anything else they fancy.

Is it worth it?

Absolutely! The realme Buds Air 2 is a TWS pair definitely provides good audio on a budget. For such an affordable price, you’ll get decent active noise-cancelling, good sound quality, premium looking device, and the comfort of a lightweight accessory.
