realme C12 review: affordable smartphone with long-lasting battery

The realme C series is a smartphone lineup from realme Philippines that packs balanced features, from camera capabilities to design, complemented by standout battery capacity perfect for the active digital lifestyle of Filipino youth. Now, they launched the realme C12, which  brings on a COMMENDABLE ALL-AROUND SMARTPHONE EXPERIENCE.

It is equipped with 6,000mAh Mega Battery that allows the device to keep up with heavy online activities, a 13MP AI triple-camera setup for high-quality snaps, 5 MP Selfie Camera for a crystal clear selfie, and an immersive 6.5-inch extra-large screen for an excellent game, audio and visual experience.

Design and Display:

realme C12 has a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD with a 720*1,600 pixels resolution. It has narrow bezels on the side but I noticed that the chin bezel is considerably thick. I think we should blame the the massive high ct try apacity battery. Despite the chunky bezel, the realme C12 has an 88.7 percent screen-to-body ratio for an immersive viewing experience.

The realme C12 shows good colors in videos and is large enough, something I personally like smartphones to have because I watch a lot of Netflix primarily on phones. The brightness is adequate but not enough for me to read the text under direct sunlight.

The realme C12 weighs around 240 grams which is quite heavy for me. The polycarbonate back has what realme calls a Geometric Gradient design with trapezoid lines dividing the rear panel into three areas with different shades of red. The back cover’s texture is more appealing, comfortable and has tiny ridges that help in providing a better grip.

What I have here is the Coral Red version. In the Philippines, apart from this color, realme C12 is also available in Marine Blue.

Camera:

Realme C12 has a total of four camera sensors — three at the back and one front camera. The rear camera module gets a refreshed design. The three camera sensors — 13MP main, 2MP macro, 2MP depth sensor — and the LED flash are placed inside a square-shaped module.

The 13MP primary camera was fun to shoot with. The shutter response is near-instant, and the camera produces bright, vibrant colours by turning up the saturation and contrasts in photos. The B/W lens offers a bunch of filters and a portrait mode, and along with the macro lens, are the only things making the camera versatile.

Performance:

The realme C12 features the MediaTek Helio G35 processor with 3GB RAM + 64 Storage. I did not have issues opening apps, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, multiple times a day or juggling between multiple apps.

Battery life:

The Realme C12’s 6000mAh battery is one of the highlights of this smartphone. On full-charge, it last well over two and a half days. Fortunately, I only had to charge the smartphone once in this course of testing however charging this phone will be an exercise of patience because it takes hours to top up to full capacity. Thankfully, the phone lasts much, much longer than it takes to charge, making it worth the patience.

The realme C12 is also more affordable at just PHP 5,990, because of the following reasons:

  • Long lasting 6,000 mAh device from realme Philippines
  • 13MP AI triple-camera with extraordinary shooting experience both for night and day.
  • 5MP Selfie Camera for a crystal clear selfie
  • Great for watching movies because of it’s 6.5” ultra-large display screen and 88.7% ultra-high screen ratio

As an online learning companion, realme C12’s useful features include the 6.5″ ultra-large display which is great for watching videos and reading articles. The long-lasting battery pack for virtual classes and streaming of educational shows. The Triple Rear Camera module – made up of a 13MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide shooter, and 2 MP depth sensor – that gives crystal clear shots for taking photos, the Full HD front and back video recorder for making online video presentations and virtual meetings with classmates and teachers. And of course, the 12nm Octa Core MediaTek Helio G35 processor that minimizes lags and even makes the phone capable of running resource intensive applications

Verdict: If you want a budget-friendly smartphone given this pandemic, realme C12 can be an option. Price wise, battery life, large display and camera is reasonably good. The performance seems justified for the price.

The realme C12 is now officially available in the market. Shopee is also offering exclusive discounts on the device only for today.
