Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic

I’ve never thought at modern times we can still experience pandemic outbreak. When COVID-19 morbidity started to rise in numbers, I became afraid for myself, my friends and family members. Not everyone is prepared to face this deadly virus , even the government is doing their best to help not just to eliminate but to lower the number of the infected people.

When the government announced that the whole Luzon will be on enhanced community quarantine, first thing that came to my mind was “How do Filipinos will cope up? I am afraid for the people who needs to go to work in order to bring food for their family”. The health workers are more at risk because they are exposed with the virus. The military that needs to have more patience because they are dealing with the public; The LGU that needs to follow strict protocols in implementing the rules; and the government that is scrambling day-to-day to find solutions to fight this virus.

Despite everything, there were a lot of good and bad things that happened since it was started. We started to see the difference of what it takes to be a great leader. A real one who stood out on terms of decisiveness and finding ways in a calm manner.

I find it alluring that the Ayalas and Manny Pangilinan were the first ones to show compassion towards Filipinos shortly after all these started. In addition to that, the Gokongweis, the Sy family, financial institutions such as Metrobank, BPI, BDO, Meralco, Maynilad – all contributed as well to helping out institutions in this time of crisis.

Other businesses are showing compassion and decisive action in helping out. Coca-Cola, Jollibee, Filinvest, San Miguel, the Razons, Aboitizes, Tans – all showed solidarity with every Filipino in this uncertain times. This made me realized that even though they’ve got nothing to gain, they chose to give.

We all know that social media of today is toxic, don’t make it worst by putting negative and senseless posts. At the end of the day, we should help each other for all I know we are all Filipino.
