Why not make your #ValentinesExtraSpecial at home?

It’s been almost a year of being married and I’m actually excited to celebrate our Valentines Day. It’s definitely the day when you can post cheesy Instagram/Facebook post, giving gifts or even have fancy dates.

We got married last March 2, 2019 and I remember how excited we were. We had so many plans including making simple breakfast, playing video games and our favorite Saturday movie marathon. My husband is such a simple guy, he really do appreciate home cook meals while talking about how are day was.

Since we’re no longer boyfriend/girlfriend and there are bills we need to prioritize, I always made sure that we can still celebrate hearts day at home without compromising our budget.

Lately, my husband and I have been so busy. After moving to a new apartment, we barely have time to eat together because of his different schedule at work and me attending events. It’s almost Valentine’s day and as I mentioned earlier that this is our first and I wanted it to make it extra special.

As they say, “the way to a man’s heart is thru his stomach,” and I know how much he misses home cook meals so I already made a plan. Sadly, he’ll be at work on February 14 but I made sure that we’ll be celebrating it in advance. My husband loves veggies and I rarely cook vegetable recipes that’s why I call for help, no other than my mother-in-law.

Sauteed Vegetables and Pork in Oyster Sauce

Ingredients:

  • Brocolli
  • Cabbage
  • Black Fungus (taingang daga)
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Young Corn
  • Chicharo
  • Pork
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • Aji Sarsaya Oyster Sauce

Steps:

  1. Saute the onion and garlic in a low heat pan.
  2. Add the pork, then cook for 2 minutes
  3. Add 1/4 cup of water then let it boil for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the black fungus and cook for 2 minutes
  5. Add the vegetables (cabbage, chicharo, young corn and brocolli)
  6. After 2 minutes add 4 tablespoon of Aji Sarsaya Oyter Sauce
  7. Transfer on a serving plate and serve immediately.

I just make sure that I won’t overcooked the veggies because he loves eating it crunchy. And the result? He loves it! As a matter of fact he wants me to cook it again on weekend. For just 210 pesos, voila! Lunch date at home! After all, it’s always the thought that counts right?
