Huawei MatePad unboxing and initial impressions

Huawei recently launched the new Huawei Matepad which is considered to be the midrange version of the Matepad Pro that is designed to be affordable but delivers fast perfomance and immersive experience.

The Huawei MatePad looks and feels premium with a sturdy build metallic body in Midnight Grey colorway and a 10.4-inch IPS screen with a crisp 2K 2000 x 1200 resolution. It has a 16:9:6 aspect ratio, 84 percent screen-to-body ratio, 470 nit brightness, and an anti-fingerprint coating solution.

It is loaded with a fast chipset, the Kirin 810 processor. It is a 7nm octa-core chip with DaVinci NPU for AI tasks and Mali-G52 MP6 GPU with GPU Turbo technology.

It features 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, and 7,250mAh battery with USB-C 18W fast charging solution.

For cameras, it is equipped with an 8MP main camera with AF and an 8MP selfie camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
Huawei also added 4x Harman Kardon-tuned speakers and 4x microphones. This is decent enough for doing video calls and listening to music.

For connectivity, the tablet comes with a dual-band WiFi and 700MHz 4G LTE connectivity.

It runs with Android 10 OS with EMUI 10.1 skin. The MatePad has its own education center with plenty of learning resources, a feature that won’t let its users be addicted to the tablet, TÜV Rheinland certified eye comfort mode, monochrome e-paper like experience, and multi-window support.

It also has Huawei Petal Search widget where you can Install apps.

It also has the Huawei MeeTime for up to 1080p high-quality video calling between two Huawei devices even if internet connectivity is weak and lighting condition is not that good.
The tablet also supports the M-Pencil stylus.

I love that the Huawei made an affordable version of the Huawei MatePad pro, and being marketed as the tool for educational purposes.
